Once I was about to pass a small group of people with kids. There was plenty of room between them and the side of the road, so I just went ahead. Suddenly, one of the kids saw me approaching and decided that he needs to move to give me more space. So he started moving from the group to the side, but I was about to go through there. I saw this and tried to make an even bigger arc away from the group, but once he saw we were on a collision course, he just went for the side of the road too. I hit the brakes and and went off the road, trying to dodge him. But he insisted and went off the road too. I fell and I think I even hit him slightly, but we were both okay. The point is, I think you just can't ride like you normaly would when there are people around.

Sorry to hear that brother….hope you’re all right..good to see you’ve got open pedals, able to put your feet on the ground quickly if needed. With built up areas, congestion, people on foot paths, I always go super slow and wide around them till I’ve got the open road in front of me again. Or cycle when it’s not the busiest of times…anyway cycling is awesome, we live and learn, back on the horse, go slow, and pray for protection when you go out..I do, I’m a Christian and I ask the Lord to protect me everytime…anyway bless you…

Very cool. I got a Orbea Laufey h10 from cycle solutions too as part of cycle to work. But knowing what I know know I should have gotten something like the scultura. That’s a great choice and you can put wider tyres for a gravel bike alike. I have a Merida Ride 93 CF from 2013 that also bought used after getting the MTB precisely because a road bike is just much faster and nimble. Let us know how you find commuting with it .
